Before moving on, take a moment to reflect on what you have built in this tool.
- Have you identified your primary audience and your core argument for them? If not, go back to Topic 5.1 and pick the audience section that fits your situation. Note your choice in Section B of your handbook.
- Does your message include at least one RESM data point (0.2%,12%, 13% vs 2%, etc.)? Evidence-based messages are more persuasive than general principles. The data cheat sheet in Topic 5.3 has all the figures you need.
- Have you drafted your 3 key messages in Section B of your handbook? Use the five-step framework from Topic 5.2 to structure them. If you have not written them yet, do it now. You will need them in Tool 6.
What comes next
You have the evidence, the allies, and the arguments. Now, build your plan to drive change. In Tool 6, you will create your advocacy strategy and action plan, choosing your approach, your timeline, and your milestones.
