Introduction to the ISCA “Health-Enhancing Physical Activity & HealthyLifestyle4All” course
Why now?
Currently, more than 60% of Europeans are living with pre-obesity or obesity. Moreover, the Covid-19 pandemic has negatively affected Europeans in terms of physical inactivity, unhealthy food intake, obesogenic environments, mental distress, and poor quality of life. This prevalence of unhealthy lifestyle among Europeans reflects a broader global challenge that forces us to seek systemic change, similar to what is needed to combat climate change and make a transition to renewable energy.
GAPPA Model for Physical Activity
Systemic change can only happen if all key players take part.
Research provides significant evidence that ALL types of physical activity contribute positively to overall health and wellbeing. It is well-known that regular exercise significantly lowers the risk of diseases, such as heart disease and cancer, and helps retain mobility longer. Exercise also lowers stress and improves sleep, skin and bone health, and mood. So why is this tool still undervalued and underused? We believe a strong emphasis should be put on health literacy and physical literacy. This means that information needs to be not only available, but also readable and comprehensible.
Today, we want to help member organisations to:
🔹 Develop their HEPA activities and
🔹 Encourage their participants to develop healthy attitudes and behaviour patterns.
Let’s get to the core of the content.
