Welcome to this module on the Theory of Change in an Integration of Refugees Through Sport (IRTS) context. The International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA) and inFocus have created this course as part of the Integration of Refugees Through Sport Networking Platform project, funded by the European Union under the Pilot Projects and Preparatory Actions in the field of Sport stream.

The course builds upon previous experience from ISCA and our partners in IRTS projects that have aimed to build the capacity of the ‘doers’ in the field – the people who deliver activities with and for refugees and asylum seekers. If you would like to learn valuable advice and practical tips from people working for sport and humanitarian organisations, we recommend you to take our basic course on Integration of Refugees Through Sport before continuing with the Theory of Change module.

The Theory of Change (ToC) course will help you to:

  • Understand why the ToC is important and what makes it a powerful tool for social impact measurement
  • Learn how to create a ToC and how to use it in your day to day work
  • Take the next steps to use your ToC for learning, communication and fundraising
  • Connect with other organisations that are developing their theories of change

The learning objectives of the course are to:

  • Understand more about the theory of change methodology and what is included in a theory of change
  • Understand why the ToC is important and what makes it a powerful tool for social impact measurement, learning, communication and fundraising
  • Learn how to create a ToC and how to use it in your day to day work
  • Take the first steps to develop your own ToC
