Kurt Wachter studied Social Anthropology and African Studies at the universities of Vienna and Cape Coast (Ghana). In 2014 he completed the MA programme Sport and Development at Southampton Solent University (UK). He is working for the Vienna Institute for International Dialogue and Cooperation (VIDC), where he founded the fairplay – initiative for diversity and anti-discrimination in 1997. From 1999 until 2010 he was the European coordinator of the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) network. Currently he coordinates the Sport Inclusion Network (SPIN). He has also written widely on football in Africa.
