Adopt a “road to success” entrepreneurial mindset. This means embracing failures: get ready for two keywords: iterate and pivoting.

Tools and frameworks for designing effective solutions

  • Design sprint as a solution to get unstuck.
  • Zoom on the MoSCoW method of prioritisation.

As explained by Fiona in the video, this method will help you and your team focus on delivering the most valuable features first, ensuring that essential requirements are met while managing time and resources effectively. We strongly recommend its use as this approach helps set clear priorities and make informed decisions about what to include in each development phase.

✍🏻EXERCICE: Make sure to have in mind all elements from your Situation Analysis and Needs Assessment as well as your problem framing. Based on the initial results from your Design Sprint session, let’s identify the features of the solution mapped onto four layers labelled as follows:

  • What features MUST it have (top row)?
  • What features SHOULD it have (second row)?
  • What features COULD it have (third row)?
  • What features WOULD it have (last row)?

Create a visual representation of your solution for example by displaying the prioritised features on a Kanban board (ie columns instead of rows) for everyone to see and discuss.

Key Takeaways

📟 Use Brainstorming sessions to generate a wide range of potential solutions.

📟 Crowdsource the best knowledge you can on your challenge (through desk study or an expert joining for example).

📟 Three enabling factors for the innovation process and design sprint in particular: Mindset, Process and Space.

📟 Involve stakeholders in the prioritisation process to ensure that the final product aligns with their needs and expectations, leading to higher satisfaction and better project outcomes.
